Course Assessment

Being in this class has really been a very enjoyable experience for me! Not only have I learned beautiful formatting tricks, but I have learned a great deal of raw skills that are indispensable in the business world. I honestly can now turn simple Word and Excel data into gorgeous reports that are extremely easy for me or an employer to look at.

I am happy to say that I am currently using the techniques I have learned regarding the Excel calculations on my own "mini-business" to calculate eBay and Paypal fees as well as commission rates. My uncle recently entered a new business selling energy receivables, and, being in retail most of his life, he did not know how to use Excel. I taught him almost everything I have learned directly from this class and even sent him our finished spreadsheets, and he is know fairly fluent in Excel and uses it most hours in his day!

I have used Excel and PowerPoint in the past, but I am so glad I have finally taken a course on this, so that I can brush up on areas which I haven't explored yet. The book was particularly useful in getting across very valuable information. I really thought I had a firm grasp on Microsoft Word, but this class taught me line spacing that I have used to perfect my resume! Also, as you can see from reading this Blog, I really have gotten into it! I have used a blog in the past for easy dispensing of notes, but this class has really opened up my mind and allowed me to explore. (I use that one-click Word->Publish to blog button all the time!)

All in all, I had never thought it would be so easy to turn brute data into such beautiful masterpieces, and I can't thank Professor Jorisch enough for guiding me through this with such care and devotion to every student. I plan on taking Excel for Business in the future, as I am very intrigued by it, plus I am sure every experience with Professor Jorisch is a guaranteed delight!
